Property tax rate
The rate is in dollars for each $1,000 of a property's assessed value. It has four parts: the city's own, the county's, the statewide education tax, and the local schools'. New Hampshire names each rate by its tax year, which runs from April 1 to March 31; the DRA sets each town's rate in the fall.
| Tax year | Total | City | County | State education | Local education |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2025 | $20.24 | $10.04 | $1.36 | $1.51 | $7.33 |
| 2024 | $19.58 | $9.36 | $1.11 | $1.52 | $7.59 |
| 2023 | $18.86 | $8.89 | $1.06 | $1.52 | $7.39 |
| 2022 | $18.24 | $8.81 | $0.92 | $1.20 | $7.31 |
| 2021 | $17.68 | $8.26 | $0.96 | $1.63 | $6.83 |
When a city revalues its property, assessed values jump and the rate falls to match, so a lower rate doesn't by itself mean lower bills. Source: DRA, municipal tax rates (opens in new tab).
